Fights
Take a piece, start a fight
The board wipes away to an arena. The attacker uses its signature move, and the captured piece goes down in its own way. Thirty pairings, each with its own name.
Pawn
Three determined hops, a crouch, a shield-first lunge.
Knight
Leaps straight up, then dives across in an L and stomps.
Bishop
Gathers light and fires a beam that zigzags off the ceiling and floor.
Rook
Rumbles, backs up, then charges like a battering ram.
Queen
Vanishes into four slashing dashes, then cuts in all eight directions.
King
One solemn square, a kneel, and a giant royal seal from the sky.
Thirty fights.
The Knight stomps, the Bishop's beam zigzags off the ceiling, the Queen cuts eight ways. A Pawn taking a Queen is a Giant Slayer.
Every rule.
Castling, en passant, promotion, the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition, insufficient material.
A bot in four moods.
Squire, Knight, Champion, Grandmaster. Ask it for a hint and it draws you an arrow.
Pieces with eyes.
Drawn from math, not bitmaps: they squash, stretch, hop, flinch and wince at any size.
A thinking score.
Unhurried piano over minor chords that tightens in check and gives way to drums in a fight.
